If you go with Firewire, carefully check the specs for the drive inside the
enclosure; some are manufactured with slower drives.

If you want to archive important data, pictures, etc., you may want to burn
the information to a good-quality CD-ROM; their expected life is roughly 50
- 100 years (your mileage may vary).  We had a long-running thread awhile
back about CDs that just 'die' prematurely, but I don't think that's an
issue with the better-quality blanks.  Don't go cheap when saving important
information.

Don't archive using Zip disks/drives! (my opinion, and experience, only)
