Of all the old Apple equipment, perhaps only the //GS and the Newton retain a devoted following of users that is still building new applications and finding new ways to use their much loved "obsolete" equipment. Several Mac computers seemed to have achieved at least modest collector status. One sometimes meets up with a Mac user still doing all their work on their Mac Plus. But I do not think old Mac computer users have ever become the devotees that one finds using Amigas or Commodore 64s. The Commodore 64 sees far more software and hardware development being done than does the Mac Plus. This could change though. There seems to be a big group that feels disillusioned, disgusted or disenfranchised with OS X and that group may have a large enough pool of talent to continue development. Certainly PCI PowerMacs have sufficient power and capabilities to handle current needs. And if the Commodore 64 can have a graphical web browser, it is hard to even imagine a computing task beyond the reaches of our "old" Macs. bill -- \/\i||i@^^ ()\/e -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
