I have a PM9500/150, not many upgrades, 1-4.5G HD, 1-2G HD, 448MB RAM. I got
it cheap just to allow a friend to replace an antiquated p200 for her arty
endeavours.
I am truly embarrassed that, although this Mac runs flawlessly otherwise, it
will not connect on diallup, giving the message "Remote side is not
responding correctly. Check the configurations of your control panels and
try, try, try again." I'm using an external SupraExpress 56K v.90.
All the account info is correctly entered for her isp (telus, no problems
with other computers connecting)
I have checked the control panels and have made the slight adjustments that
are suggested around the troubleshooting sites, thrown out preferences,
tried different modem scripts, and have even done clean install of os9.1,
and then repeated the changes in different combinations.
I ran ZTerm to check the modem, which seems to communicate alright, but it
continues to stall at 'starting PPP'.
My friend is coming over today, with her pentium in tow because it's
malfunctioning again. I'm tempted to offer to pay for her cable just so she
can see what an amazing machine this is, but I can't afford the bills I
have.
I don't see how this can be a phone line quality issue as the 9500 shows no
hint of a connection ever, whether here in the country or at her place in
the city, and our iMac has no problem connecting on her account at either
site.
Any more ideas out there?
-Ken
