>A few questions: >What are the dimensions of the 9500 motherboard? >What are the dimensions of the 9600 motherboard?
These are identical in overall dimensions and in most other respects, including the all important latches and retaining screw. It is indeed possible to install a 9500 mobo in a 9600 case, however the 9600's external switch and light will interfere with the 9500's internal switch (and certain other components). >What are the lengths of the respective power cables from the power >supply to the motherboard? The "lengths", per se, are the same, however the pinouts are very, very different, with the 9500 having a 22 and a 10 pin connector, with the 3.3 volts being on the 10 pin connector and the controls being on the 22 pin connector; with the 9600 having a 24 and a 10 pin connector, with the 3.3 volts on the 24 pin connector and the controls being on the 10 pin connector. It is possible to interchange cases and mobos, but the difficulty level is quite high. Peter. -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
