HP made drives in their Boise, ID division, which just happens to be the same division as made (or, rather, distributed, their printer products, most of which were made by Canon, or utilized Canon technology as a base). HP closed the Boise drive plant and liquidated those drives perhaps five years ago. Not bad drives. But not that good, either.
