Success beyond expectations. I installed Jaguar 10.2 on an old SCSI drive in my old PCI Daystar Genesis Clone using the Sonnet PCI X Installer program, and then downloaded and installed the 10.2.3 updater and installed that. The entire process went exactly as the Read Me said it would. My salute to Sonnet for a wonderful pair of products, the 800 Mhz G4 PCI Processor Upgrade card and the Sonnet PCI X Installer.
(I love this new system. I tried to email Quark tonight to tell them to get their thumb out of their fundament and put out an upgrade for Quark XPress that is OSX-compatible so I won't have to start using InDesign 2.0. but the Quark website only has phone numbers, no email address. Fancy that !!!) Incredible smooth graphics from the ATI Radeon 7000 card. Especially the screen savers built into the OSX. For the first time I don't regret selling the Voodoo5 5500 to finance the Radeon card. Then I went to the ATI site and updated the ATI software. Big mistake. Windows were jumpy and edgy and the Mac OSX screen savers were jumpy and jittery. Scrolling was a problem. So........I tried to re-install the original ATI drivers from the CD that came with the card but the video did not improve. So I abandoned that install and picked up an 80-gig 7200 rpm Maxtor ATA drive and partitioned it into a 7.8 gig and two 35 gig partitions and re-installed Jaguar on the 7.8 gig partition. My salute to Sonnet one more time for the PCI ATA Tempo card. Everything works just fine. I will NOT update the ATI software. M -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
