Peter,

If it doesn't plug into the back of the monitor (removeable) then you can 
remove the back case and see about replacing/repairing it. Have you ever 
mucked around inside electrical/electronic equipment. There is high voltage 
stored up in there, so I wouldn't touch, or come too close to any electronics 
or the main tube. The power cord will probably either be plugged in with 
spade connectors or be soldered on. If you're squeemish at all, take it to a 
shop and have them replace it.
