A number of the TV shows I have worked on have managed to flesh out the budget by doing product placement. The problem comes when a network sponsor sees a competing product that has been "placed" in the show they are sponsoring. Of course, pay cable does not have this issue, so original programming on cable gets heaps of it. A series I did for Showtime in summer of 2001 showed a TiBook in one scene, and two of the producers ended up with brand-new TiBooks.
