The various PCI standards are supposed to be upwards compatible (that is, if you have a PCI card that works in a 2.0 slot it should also work in a 2.1 or 2.2 slot). Cards that are designed for 2.1 or 2.2 slots may or may not be compatible older slots (depending if they use the new features provided by the later standards). Apple has always lagged behind the curve on PCI slots, and that's part of the problem. The PCI 2.0 specification dates back to 1993, which in "computer years" is like the Jurassic Period. The pre-G3 PCI PowerMacs may be the only production computers still in regular use that have a PCI 2.0 slot. The G3/G4 PowerMacs have PCI 2.1 slots, which only dates back to 1995 (the Cretaceous Period of computing, if you will). So it appears the card may be compatible with 2.1 slots, but not 2.0 slots. -Jeff [EMAIL PROTECTED] <-- Precambrian -- "You can't brew a premium lager with a kool-aid mentality." --Harold Green in _The_Red_Green_Show_ -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
