I have an OrangeMicro Firewire/USB card in my 9600 that works flawlessly.

My JVC video camera came with a program called 'Presto!' that you may be able
to get off of their web site.

My JVC has excellent Mac support and I believe Sony does as well.  Panasonic
has no pre-OSX support, though.
