There are speakers on the side of the monitor. I thought those were used by the
applications too.

The 6360 only shipped with one (internal) speaker. The tech manual 
says that the output on the rear of the machine is for 'line level' 
speakers. The output jack on the front of the machine is for 
headphones.

Is it possible that the speaker cone has been damaged. Done any 
internal work on the computer lately? Speakers hooked up to the right 
jacks? Wires o.k.?

I know this is all simple stuff, but I find that often the simple 
answer is the most elusive.
