Well, not a good ending.. I stripped everything out, cleaned everything that needed it, put different known good parts back on the logic board. Booted her up, got chime and she went as far as the OS load screen and stopped. Rebooted and nothing except the initial HD wakeup...
So it is now only a skeleton of it's former self, and the usable parts will go to other deserving systems.... Thanks for all the good feedback.... -- Fred....
