I haven't worked up the guts to try QT6 yet. Currently have 5. Each
time I upgrade QuickTime, video playback gets slower and slower and
slower. Is QT6 worth it, or should I stay gunshy?

Someone in efnet#macintosh just pointed me to

http://download.divx.com/divx/divx_mac_50a3_installer.sit

The web site and docs say it requires a 400-MHz G3 or faster.
Ignoring that, I installed it anyway.

Some of the divx files I've obtained play smoothly, albeit more
pixelated than mpeg-1 files. But some - mostly the ones that have
larger windows - are very jerky, dropping down to one or two fps.

What is "Turbomem"?
