Toast or Disk Copy or Shrinkwrap (I believe) can make a disk image file to
your custom size. The filetakes up that amount of disk space. If you open
the file (as you would any file) it mounts as a virtual disk and you can use
it as such. Sending it to the trash unmounts it - all the data is stored in
the disk image file.
That�s my experience anyway.

I guess if you have the ram spare you can make a ram disk to whatever!
But that�s something else.
