what happens if you start with colour sync extensions off ?
what happens if you calibrate the colours in the monitors control panel ?
what happens if you start with all extensions off ? is there a 
difference in 256/million colours,
a bad monitorcable does such things aswell on some PCs  I found in 
the garbage, can you wiggle the cable a bit ???
(I have a bad motherboard wram socket that creates stripes on the 
screen when 4 mb is seated - 3 mb with one socket empty works fine 
and this only happens in 256 colour mode, there is a small cubic part 
that looks burnt on the mobo - I never solved that one, sadly but 
millions of colours work fine !)
