Dear List:

I have a friend who has a PowerMac 8500 with a Sonnet G3 350 card, OS 9.2.2,
and 320MB RAM installed. I am trying to get iTunes 2.0.4 to recognise the
external SCSI burner, a Lacie CRW 8x4x24 (which Apple System Profiler
identifies as a Yamaha mechanism). But thus far my success with this project
has been met with failure.

Someone from this list got his external SCSI burner (an HP) to work with
iTunes by modifying the code in the appropriate file in the Authoring
Support Files folder inside the System Folder. He used Resorcerer 2.2 to
accomplish this little feat. His modification allowed iTunes to recognise
the burner and he could thus burn from his playlists from within iTunes.

I have tried modifying the YamahaCDR Authoring Support File for my friend's
external SCSI burner. I obtained the proper ID for the burner, as I said,
through Apple System Profiler, opened up the file, and then made the
necessary changes. I restarted the computer and then launched iTunes. I went
to Preferences and clicked on CD Burners, but iTunes insists that there are
no supported burners available.

Any ideas?

Roland :)
