There were three version of the Pentium/166 PC Compatibility card. The
820-0729-A was the second. I believe the 820-0729-B was the third.

That leaves 820-0728-A as the first version of the card.

The first version had capacitors soldered to the back of the board, at the
D-Subminiature connectors, to take care of some video glitching problems, as
one spotting feature.

The VRAM was upgradeable on the first and second versions, but these were
supplied half populated, with the upgrade being performed by pressing in
J-lead VRAM chips into sockets at two locations. The VRAM was maximally
populated on the third version by being soldered, not socketed.

The on-board RAM was half populated on the first and second versions, and it
was not possibly to upgrade, except through the 168-pin slot.

The on-board RAM was fully populated on the third version (i.e., twice the
capacity of a first or second version card, with these additional chips being
soldered on the back side of the card). Expansion through the 168-pin slot
was, of course, still possible.
