IDE. One needs to be designated (jumpered) Master, and the other slave. Can't have two Masters or two slaves on the same bus. Since the Deskstar was already working I'd assume it was either set to Master or Cable select. Make sure it's set to Master and set the new HD as slave.
STeve << Dear List: Hello. I've got a litte conundrum here. Namely, I received a HD along with the Ultratek 66 IDE card mentioned in my earlier post. The drive came with no jumpers. When I put it on the IDE chain with another drive- a Deskstar 40GB, it does not show up. What is the default setting without jumpers? Must I have jumpers to get this drive to appear on the desktop (and on Drive Setup, SCSI Mgr., etc)? Does Radio Shack sell drive jumpers? Or .... what??
