Hello! It is nice to read about others adventures trying to get unsupported software running on their pci macs.
Mine is a 7600/132 that has been upgraded with a Sonnett G3/300 Mhz. O.S. 9.1 224 Mb Ram 40 Gigabyte ATA/133 Hard Drive (internal) Voodoo 3 Graphics Card (P.C. Card Flashed to work with a Mac) Want to talk about having an adventure trying to get stuff to run, try getting games to work on a Macintosh using a Voodoo card! The best word to describe it is AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Seriously though, when everything is just right and a game supports both the Voodoo 3 AND runs decent on my older system, it is pure bliss...the voodoo chipset was really nice for the time. Here are MY experiences with games and my hardware: Diablo II Runs excellent, looks great! Myth I Runs Excellent, looks really nice! RUNE Looks great, but a bit choppy...hopefully a future processor upgrade will fix this. Tomb raider games All look excellent...newer ones a little choppy. Quake Arena Runs great in lower details Unreal Tournament Same as Quake Arena Heavy Metal Fakk II Looks exquisite, but extremely choppy...unplayable Start Trek Voyager Elite Looks great, extremely choppy...unplayable Thats about it for the 3dfx compatible games that I have tried. As for "Unsupported" software, I have installed Imovie 2, but it is a bit sluggish...I am SERIOUSLY looking at dropping in one of the Sonnett G4 800 Mhz accelerators...I wonder if this would eleminate the sluggishness on my games, programs etc, or if the 7600 is just too slow of a machine?
