Never heard of them - what are they?

>Is there any easier way to do this?

Some third party utilities may undertake the task (HD Setup is a
fairly fragile utility as formatters go...) but it's a problem I have
never encountered so I can't say with any degree of certainty. If you're
a scsi fan as I am (I'm resisting the move to ata as I prefer 5x9 gig
drives to one 45gig - if a drive fails I can toss it and replace it
cheaply with no loss of data) it's good to have a selection of formatters
- I have FWB Toolkit, HD SpeedTools and Atto utilities as well as HD
Setup and a hacked HD Setup which has never worked yet - some hack...
The question with these drives is whether you can access the OEM
data to reformat them or whether you can override the data and use the
rest of the disk. I've tried many ways on a mac with some success and
some failure (and failure can be the death of the drive - I killed two
recently) but no real clue as to why it succeeds or fails.
The one way I have not tried is to blank them or reformat them on a
PC as I have no access to one - but a PC repair guy I rang reckoned he
could do it - he was unfortunately more expensive than the
drives.....hehheh
