I ran TechTool Pro 3 (booted in OS 9 partition) and repaired my
partition with OS X and OS 9. It spent a long time repairing (?) Volume
Structure. Upon reboot, the OS X partition woudn't even mount. Disk
Warrior recognized it and found a ton of errors. Replaced the directory
and all is well.
