Interleaving?
Is there a good site to read up on understanding RAM-speak? (like that
good SCSI site...

I haven't checked Macguru's lately--that used to be pretty good.
Here is my definition of interleaving: "When I have matched pairs of
RAM stuff on my 7300 and it appears to double in speed--and takes
your breath away--I am interleaving. I don't think it works with 128
Meg DIMMs--I guess this has something to do with the fact that these
didn't exist at the time the 7300 was built. The only way I can tell
if I am interleaved is that desktop stuff really really speeds up. I
would recommend that to match pairs of DIMMS you really match them
absolutely. Just matching size and speeds of the DIMMs isn't
necessarily enough. Since, I couldn't get 128 Meg DIMMs to
interleave, and 64 Meg would work, I took my matched 128s out. Its
faster with less RAM if that RAM is interleaved. I have pairs of 16,
32 and 64 Meg DIMMs and they seem to be doing the trick. Apparently
all this has something to do with the 7300 memory manager chip.
I would love to find out how I could know for sure that the
interleaving is working. Any help?
