This is an UATA-to-SCSI converter, which is available in 50- and 68-pin models, adds only 0.6" to the overall height of the drive, with no increase in "footprint" at all, and will allow you to use up to 120 GB drives on your pre-B&W Macs, as if those drives were SCSI drives. So, the overall height of the "composite" is no higher than a so-called "half height" drive (1.6").
