Whether what will work? If you mean shooting the files across the 
ethernet cable (use a crossover) directly from the 4400 to the eMac, then 
it is as easy as enabling File Sharing on the 4400, opening either the 
Chooser or Network Browser (do these thing still exist under OSX?) and 
accessing the 4400's hard drive from the eMac.

See above, if you are getting the PCI NIC for the 4400. The only adapter 
(if you don't have a hub) would be a crossover cable.

So, are you trying to move files from a 4400 to a PC of some sort?

If so, good luck. It will cost a few $ to network the PC to the 4400. 
Even then, disks burned on a PC with Mac files could have unexpected 
results.

If you mean hooking the Mac HD to a PC SCSI bus, I doubt it. How would 
the PC know how to read the Mac formatted drive?
