At Other wolrd Computing you can download an app called XPostFacto. You will need this to install X on your box. You will also need the L2CacheConfig utility, because without the L2 cache enabled, X WILL run like crap. As far as hardware goes, these are my suggestions: You will want at LEAST 256MB RAM. 128 is Not enough...just as an idea, even with 186MB RAM, my wifes computer (7500/366), only has 50Mb free after loading the OS. This is obviously not enough, so be sure to load up on as much RAM as you can cram into your computer...I have a G4/450 b7W with 1GB RAM...this is a really good amount, I never run out of RAM. You will also want at least a PCI Rage 1128 PRO. Hardware accelleration (even with QE disabled) will GREATlt improve your OS X experience. It will run fine on the onboard video, but things like gaming and movie playback will be MUCH nicer with a 3D card. and, last but not least, you will have the easiest time installing X on your box if you install it to the INTERNAL SCSI. So be sure your internal scsI is AT LEAST 1.2GB...this is the most minimal OS X install you can make. I wouldn't suggest it (b/c Software Update needs a lot of extra disk space to install updates, etc and if you dont have the space, you will have to download all the updates from Apple's website and install them manually), but it can be done that way if necessary. i have done this b4 so if you run into any problems with XPostFacto, email me offlist and I will walk you through the proccess. -Josh -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
