Only if the reason the power supply went south had nothing to do with 
some other problem, e.g., if the mobo has a defective circuit or 
component and you replace it, the new ps may blow.  However, it may 
be cheaper to take the chance then to have it properly diagnosed at 
50 bucks an hour.  Good luck.
