"back in the day" they first gave us FIND, and it worked quite well.
Then some (sherlock?) came up with the idea, hence the name... at first
we were confused, but as we became acclimated to it, we learned to
embrace it and then wonder how we ever did without it? Now with OS 10.2
(JAG), Sherlock has become some sort of online check your stocks, book
a flight, sell your car, and (ugh) ebay style app. and good ole' FIND
has once again appeared... if your at the desktop level it's under the
FILE menu.

In was my understanding that Disc Burner wasn't supported by the OS
until 9.2.x
Now as to IF downloading and installing the burner app onto a machine
running OS 9.1 will make it work - don't know, never tried it. This
could be your problem though. I would actually consider using the
os9helper app and install 9.2.2 anyways. When and if it installs
properly, 9.2.2 runs noticeably better and faster than 9.1 For more
info related to this please see: xlr8yourmac,com ... os9forever.com..
  the6400zone.com ...etc.....
Also, wasn't there an issue in regards as to if (pci card added) USB
could fully support the data transfer rates required to burn a CD with
any reliability? Wasn't this a discussion a few weeks back on this
list? Incidentally, doesn't xlr8youryourmac have a bulletin post from
people as to which 3rd party CDRW's and DVD drives & writers they've
gotten to work with various macs?

HTH.
