I just checked my 8600/G3, running iMovie via 9.1, QT 6 Pro and found the following extensions: FireWire Enabler, FireWire Support, QuickTime Firewire DV, QuickTime FireWire DV Enabler and QuickTime FireWire DV Support.
I installed iMovie 1.0 with no problems, but I did find that for some reason it would crash if you didn't have the Control Strip software active. Works great except that when you open a project, it displays the message that no firewire devices are found. Click the message off and continue normally. iMovie will work with any downloaded or saved video clip. (.mov, mpg, etc.) It doesn't need firewire except to record directly from a camera. I can download from a VCR , TV , QuickCam or an older pre-firewire video camera via the RCA AV in jacks, (to Apple Video Player, QT Video Player, etc.) save as DV and then import to iMovie.
