I don't think so - XLR8 sell a G4/500 (10x) for the pci macs with a
50mhz bus and Sonnet sell a G4/800 (16x)for the pci Macs.
The bus speed can certainly vary lower or higher - Umax S900 owners
have reported bus speeds higher than 50mhz with a little tweaking and the
bus multipliers do not have to be whole numbers - they can adjust to the
speed of the processor - so a 40mhz bus will run a 180mhz card at 4.5
multiple - similar with 66mhz bus and 233/266/300/350 processors.
So a 225mhz Umax on a 50mhz bus should run at 4.5 multiplier. I
think the daughtercard processors adjust automatically with a cuda before
booting.
