In my experience removing the source of the noise is many times more succesful that trying to mute or muffle a noisy component. There are no specially quiet PSU for these or indeed any macs. The cost & noise effective route is to change the fan. I've done it myself (very carefully) on a few PSU's with no adverse effects so far. You'll be looking for a 80mm papst fan with the lowest db level but the highest cfm. As for HD's, just change them. Muffling or muting them effects the temps thus eventually the reliabilty of the drive. Mounting the drives on rubber mountings like on the "No Vibes" caddy certiainly will help with the elmination of vibration of a drive. But if the drive is fundamentally noisy then you'll have to swap it. Baracuda IV or V is the one to go for. The same with the case. Its needs airflow. Stuffing it with padding is going to raise the temps and reliability and stability can be effected. For specific Mac examples see below. Theres tons of stuff about this for PC's which like I said I won't post to the list, but the problems and solutions are the same for Mac & PC's anyway.
