I had the same problem with another Logitec mouse, the optical scroll mouse, and after doing the the unplug and replug dance for a couple of days of shutdowns and startups the problem went away and has not come back. I don't know why. When I first called Logitech tech support about this, they just told me to unplug and replug the mouse. You may want to try the plug swap when the Mouseware control panel is open.
