Actually you're partially correct Mike. There are a lot of variants of DIMMs; SDRAM, DDR, EDO (3.3v, 5v) FPM, and so forth. To make sure that a person does not plug a 3.3v EDO DIMM into a board that accepts only 5v EDO DIMMs for instance, the socket are made in such a way that the key (the extra notch along the gold fingers) are off by a couple millimeters. These differences are not readily apparent until one compares these DIMMs side by side. These variants BTW are all documented by some standard body (JEDEC I think) and should be available online for the viewing pleasure of the curious. --- Date: Mon, 24 Mar 2003 23:01:28 -0600 Subject: Re: PC RAm to Mac(?) I can tell you from experience that they probably won't fit. The slots are cut just slightly off so that they don't seat properly between PCs and Macs.
