I called Maxtor support today and the Tech told me he never heard of
my problem either. One partition from my 60 gig DiamondMax 9
containing OS 9.1 in an 8500 just disappeared after I switched my
start up disk back to my old 1 gig SCSI w/ OS 8.6. The other two
partitions only show up in ASP and Drive Setup as unmounted. Disk
Warrior or any other app can't do anything either if they can't see
any of the disk. If I reinitialize those two partitions I will lose
the data. Besides, I bought a whole drive not part of a drive. The
tech seemed to care less about my problem and simply said, "never
heard of that before but these things just can happen." He offered
absolutely nothing helpful but he never came out and said that they
don't support Macs.

Played with the jumper settings for quite some time today to no
avail. The partition with the 9.1 OS is just dead...gone. One thing
though, I believe the ATA/EIDE bus for that Maxtor originally listed
as bus 2, ID 0. Now I can find no jumper settings that make the ID "0
" again, it only shows as "1." Is there any significance to this?
Also is it OK to switch the jumper while the computer is running?
Even if it is, I'm sure it needs a restart to reset the ID.
