I once tried to get a USB 2.0 card that was backwards-compatible with 1.1 working in my PCI PowerMacs. If the card is a PCI 2.1 card, there appears to be little hope. I traded it and got a regular old USB 1.1 card manufactured by MacAlly and another by SIIG that work just beautifully in both.
