Can the 390w or 560w power supply from a 9600 be used in a 9500?
>>

It's 390 watts (there was *no* 560 watt PSU), and the only cases it will fit
in are the 8600/9600 and the Beige G3 MT.

The 8500/9500 PSU is unique to that case, mechanically.

Besides, the PSU electrical interface went through this progression ...

1) 7500/7500/7200, including the 8500 and 9500,

2) 7300,

3) 8600/9600,

4a) Beige G3 DT, and

4b) Beige G3 MT (which is 8600/9600 sized, but has an ATX pinout).

So, the 8500/9500 PSU is two generations away from the 8600/9600.

And, the 8500/9500 case is light-years away from the 8600/9600.
