This is not a problem - I do Like This: I put an alias of the applemenufolder inside the applemenu and and rename it "open applemenu" that way I can open the apple menu from the applemenu and put in or take out all of that I need to alter without having to plunge into the systemfolder lookin for the applemenu. This is my own invention - but I guess someone else must already have thought of the same - if you havent - please do!
Sounds like yer Apple menu groweth. Using it as a launch menu?
Take a look at AliasMenu and BeHierarchic and Default Folder. The three extensions work together, to give you a beautifully enhanced Apple menu, PLUS other versatile launch menus, and better Favorites management.
I also like Dialog View. It fixes many of the problems with the puny open-file dialogs.
And if you'd like to try a dock/launcher type gizmo that's much more versatile than the standard torn-off Apple application menu... take a look at The Tilery.
