To Mac List, The reason you may or may not receive a bounced message has nothing to do with your ISP or anyone handling the message but the end recipient. In simple terms, someone like me bounced your message as the final recipient. That message goes all the way back to the sender with a "bounced" header. If you are the sender, you may think it came from your ISP or one of the other servers. Not so!
This morning I had 84 emails waiting to load on my computer. Most wanted to sell me overseas drugs, want me to at young girls being sexually seduced, grow some part of my anatomy, sell me discounted printer ink, tell me how to sell on eBay, and a sundry list of other "hot deals". I scan the list looking for the obvious spam, and tell my mail client to "bounce" all spam. That sends the message back to the sender as those who have received bounced mail well knows. At times, Mac mail gets bounced instead of deleted because I didn't recognize the sender or the ISP was a known spam offender. My sincere apologies to those who are receiving their mail back. There are a couple of suggestions for posting to the list. 1: ALWAYS post a header or subject. No header and it's going to bounce. 2: Post an appropriate subject. "giggly screen" will bounce if I don't recognize the senders name or address. 3: Don't get cute with names. I promise a name like "Barbie" gets bounced more often than most. I apologize to all those who have received bounced messages and I was the culprit. In my own defense. I bounced sixty two out of eighty four messages this morning. Yesterday morning I bounced sixty seven out of sixty eight. By six tonight I will have bounced another sixty to seventy if it's a normal day. If this is a problem I will ask Tim to remove me from the Mac list so as to not offend anyone.
