Be sure your AppleTalk control panel is set to the right port.
Oh, it is! Currently on ethernet, though it used to be on printer port. I put a printer cable on it yesterday and it recognized the driver in the chooser immediately, though still set to ethernet. I set it up and printed fine. today after booting the printer AGAIN could not be found. I tried the chooser and there it was... so whatineck is going on? As I clicked again on setup it immediately began printing.
So why did it claim that thee printer could not be found, when in fact it DID find it and began printing?hitting setup camn't have done it, because it began printing as soon as I clicked... phooey!
It ain't the cables... unless the cables on BOTH of my Macs were faulty at the same time AND the new ethernet cable is ALSO faulty. They are also plugged in well... I rechecked this numerous times. Contacts are ot dirty.
Dunno... the thing is still malfunctioning, after removing the interleaved 128mb sticks today.
And yesterday it froze twice while booting... before the startup desktop Apple logo came up. 2nd restart it worked.
So I'm having undesired autodial problems, freezes, Chooser problems, startup freezes, clock reverting to 1957, IE5 quitting... all after disconnecting the thing from power. I think these are all related... too much for coincidence. AND my Eudora putting queued messages in odd places in the queue (for instance, the messages I've written but not yet sent are scatrtered among messages sent yesterday and before, while the mailbox is set to arrange by TIME.
This is all in addition to the way the machine often (but by no means consistently) hesitates for several seconds after giving commands eg closing windows etc.
