I'm thinking the Seagate drives make noise when theyare having to work too hard to accommodate a slow processor or something.> Just my idiot's deductive reasoning at work here.
I just got a basically bare 7300 with motherboard, power supply and floppy drive and had the remaining items sitting around over the years. The 4 gig seagate had been sitting around for over 2 years and it also made those clicking noises but as time passed, the noise just stopped. I always found seagates to be pretty noisy anyway. Some more so than others.
