I sometimes get terrible lightning here in TN and lost a few phones &
answering machines, so I designed a multi-stage filter-supressor for my
phone line. It consists of multiple delta ZNR supressors in series with
inductors & small resistors. Since then I have never lost anything
connected to the phone lines except pieces of the filter, which
occasionally blow up during strikes. Usually just the first stage
explodes. I can describe it in more detail if there is any interest.
