Computer: 5500/250 32/2GB System: OS8.0 Problem 1: Freeze at startup with error type 11
Would get the same error when booting from OS 8 or OS 9 CD. Would boot fine with extensions off, from either CD or installed OS 8 on HD. After turning off all extensions in EM (OS 8 on HD) and turning them on in twos, I found that the Shared Library Manager (ppc) was causing the problem. Now this is an extension that is required by several programs and apps in order to run.
Problem 2:
Don't know if there is a connection here but seems as there is, but booting with the SLM (ppc) off , several things will not function because >>OTUtilityLib<< can not be found (i.e. AppleTalk, Sherlock, etc.)
Question: What piece of hardware or other software is required for SLM (ppc) to function properly and not give the Error Type 11 at startup...?
Note: This whole scenario is reproducible regardless of where the system is booted from, clean install or not, OS 8 or OS 9, as long as the SLM (ppc) is turned on or off.
