I am not trying to contradict this statement as this is considered the technically correct answer but I personally have never had any trouble mixing EDO, FPM 2k or 4k in a 7300 or 7500. The user manual says that 4k is OK; unlike others, where 2k is required. In fact many of the 7500, 7600 had EDO as their initial memory installation which was the case in my 7300; they were also 2k refresh. And these machines do not derive the benefits from EDO. 2k refresh were considerably more expensive but the price difference doesn't seem quite as much these days.


There are other issues as well, as there are reports that certain memory will not work with G3 or G4 upgrades. I imagine more so G4 upgrades as I didn't have any trouble with that sort of thing with my Sonnet G3 400mhz. So that may be something to look into for future upgrades.
