I have a 8600/300 with the stock 4.3 gig HD. I just added a Barracuda 4
gig HD and a old 160 mb Quantum HD.

There are no more slots available, so the two new HD's are stacked on
top of each other on the floor of the case. When I opened the case up after
running for a while, the Barracuda felt pretty warm.

Is that normal? I don't know where else to put them. I did slide them
in front of the side fan in the case, for what it's worth.

Does anyone have any ideas for additional cooling?

Also, off topic but better than another post, I picked up a APC battery
back up from a thrift store today. How do I tell if it works? The computer
is running off of it now. Should the computer stay on if I turn off the
power strip that the battery back up is plugged in to? Just wondering.

Thanks

Kevin
