What would be the complexity/logistics/expense of replacing the stock 1G HD in a 7500 with another internal drive? Or is an external the only way to go? I put a 10G scsi in the other bay years ago.

Hi Gene,
In a 7500 case there is very little complexity. This may be the easiest Mac to work on. Just take your time to refamiliarize yourself with the case and drive sled (actually one is not absolutely necessary ) and cable arragement. You can use any plug on the cable ,just so both drives can connect easily. Also familiarize yourself with the jumper settings for ID.
As to logistics ; What drive ? Size, disk speed (video needs a faster drive ) External size ? ( 3.5 inches by 1,6 inch height ought to do ) New or used ? What source? eBay, LEM swap list, LEM sponsor site, Local store of shop ?
Download .pdf files from LEM or manufacturers sites for 7500 case instructions and drive settings. Get a ground strap for your wrist to discharge static or do it another way
Expense depends on whether it is new or used and the size of the drive. You may also need a pin adapter to convert to your 7500's 50 pin cable. Shipping costs can be outrageous too. Negotiate before bidding if buying on auction or swap list. This is also a good idea if buying commercially.
Read the info, set the jumper. Open the case and plug it in. Install the driver (Try to get one before
you buy ! See my earlier posting.) Then enjoy the drive space.
You say you did it once. You can certainly do it again. It's very satisfying really :-) .
Have fun !
Adrian
