IAC, you can go into Software Update, check the items you want and select 'Download checked items to the Desktop' from the Update menu.

With 10.1.5, there is not a visible option to download locally - at least where I can see it.

This is what I have in the Updates menu:

Install Updates
Save As... (disabled, can't enable it)
Make Inactive
Show Inactive Updates
