The G3 shares the same case, but the internal framing and the rear plate are different. The only cure (other than what you already see will have to be done) is to find the inner frame and rear panel (with metal shielding) from a G3. By the time you got done making a "pretty" G3, you could have more than likely bought one. I went through the same thing converting a Centris 650 to a 7100 some time back. It worked, but wasn't very pretty.
