You won't hear the start up chime using the AV750. Since the monitor speakers are utilizing the sound output port of the CPU they're not available until long after the startup chime has come & gone. I believe there is mention of this in the av750 users guide (available for Dl somewhere on the knowledge base site).

What I really want to know though, is what happened to all the "ambient light/screen calibrater" gizmos that were suppose to have come with these monitors to deal with wysiwyg issues? Anyone have one they want to part with?

No, no chime! I forgot to mention this. In fact, it is the thing that I
found the most dismaying. The sense of loss, the lack of that friendly,
informative, melodious heralding of a session ... I feel, quite glum for a
while when I use the 7300 (a spare). But then, when the speakers beep and
bong and ... well they are impressive and deep ... I cheer up.
