Subject: Re: QuickTime 6 Crashing (Update)

Just wondering, did you actually try to run the video, that is
halfway down the page <http://www.apple.com/powermac/> at the left
called:

Power Mac G5 Video
Learn more

??

That video crashed both my PM 9500/G3/400 and my PM8500G3/300, both
running MacOS 9.1 and QT6.

I tried it 2 ways in both IE and Safari with the same results.
If I tried to watch it streaming in a browser, the DL speed had to keep catching up so it would pause and then start again, and I'm on cable, although it is a 75meg file. It got to be a bit annoying.
Then I downloaded it to the desktop and played it in QT after quitting the browser. The video speed was fine with no jerkyness or loss of sound. but the audio track wasn't synced with the video and when ever they actually showed anyone talking, I felt like I was watching an old bruce lee movie -
My synopsis - your machine is probably fine, it's more likely that the video file is damaged.
PM 8600/G3/500, OS9.2.2 & 10.2.6, Gig of Ram,
