This is a new floppy drive and the disks are Mac floppies (old Apple system files). I installed the floppy drive only about a week ago and for a few days, it worked OK, but then things went downhill from there and as I inserted more floppies, the frequency of "unreadables" and "defectives" increased. Disks which were used last week with no problem are unreadable and defective this week.
It's not the drive; I have two other floppy drives which I replaced when they performed (or not) exactly the same way. The floppy drive cable is also a replacement although I can't rule out the possibility that this one is also bad.
So what am I missing? Is there such a thing as a driver for a floppy drive? If so, Sherlock has been unable to find it. Part of the OS?
