I am having a problem with this machine. Upon startup
just before my login screen I get a message stating
"The application "Login" has unexpectedly quit. You
should save your work in other open applications and
restart computer". Then it freezes. I cant move
pointer or anything. Only thing that I am able to do
is "Control/Apple key/start" on keyboard and machine
restarts with same problem. Any ideas? I have no idea
why this happened.

start with holding down the spacebar during startup until the extension manager shows disable the login application alias in the startup folder, click continue
remove the login application alias from the start up folder inside the system folder - what sort of login is that ?
or start with extensions off-.
